Speed Buggy

The Superveloz Buggy Buggy (Speed Buggy) is a cartoon television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and broadcast on CBS.

It consisted of a single season of 16 episodes, each of about 20 minutes, which were originally aired from September 8, 1973, and then broadcast on this same channel, finally concluding on August 30, 1975. The series would then be broadcast on different channels in subsequent years, eventually being shown by Cartoon Network worldwide. As of Saturday, March 6, 2004, the series was viewed throughout Latin America by Cartoon Network's Boomerang channel, at 12:00-2:00 p.m., with late-night and morning replays. The series was kept airing at different times through this same channel, which last aired it in 2006 in the early morning during its block of classics.

Argument
Similar in format to the hit 1969 Hanna-Barbera series: Scooby-Doo where are you?, the series tells us the adventures of a talking anthropomorphic car called Buggy Buggy, and three teenagers who are his friends. This amazing car was designed and built by mechanic Tuerquitas (Tinker in the original version), assisted by his friends Marco and Silvia, story that is presented in the initial sequence of each chapter. Together, they are transported aboard the Buggy around the United States, regions of the Middle East, Europe, and around the world, traveling to these places to participate in competitions and motor racing in which the Buggy Buggy was very famous and well known. However, to each place they arrived, a certain problem (a robbery, an invasion or some such crime) was caused by some supervillain attacking the site. Then curiosity prompted the boys to solve the mystery, along with their car, the Buggy Buggy, who with its many utilities sometimes managed to save them from problems.

Characters
The fast Buggy (voice made by Mel Blanc): The protagonist of the series, a talking car, cheerful and sometimes cowardly. It has some hidden tools and weapons, which it uses only in times of danger. Despite having a mind of its own, the Buggy Buggy could be managed remotely via a small remote control (which was also a communication system), which was invented by Tuerquitas when the car was built. By means of this control, you can give orders to the car and it obeys them, hence your enemies constantly try to seize control or duplicate it so that you can manipulate Buggy Buggy. However, this device is rarely used by your friends and by Tuerquitas, the best friend, driver and buggy mechanic. He is played by Jorge Arvizu, in the Spanish version dubbed in Mexico.
Tuerquitas (Tinker in the original version): The builder and mechanic of Buggy Buggy. Most of the time he drives the Buggy (especially during racing), and knows all his weapons and utilities. This character shares many characteristics and resemblance to the character of Shaggy (from the Scooby-Doo series), as he is also somewhat frightening and nervous when it comes to solving mysteries. Every time I saw something exciting or discovered something, I would exclaim, "Mofles!", and other similar terms.

It was played by Phil Luther, Jr. in the English version.
Marco (Mark in the original version): He is the leader of the band, and responsible for promoting and booking races for the Buggy Buggy to compete. Marco is in many ways contrary to Tuerquitas: serious, responsible and besides his physique is of a strong and muscular boy, while Tuerquitas is thin and somewhat unregarded. This character shares similar characteristics with Freddie (from the Scooby-Doo series), because, like this one, he is a formal, handsome boy of dress, among other similarities. He was played by Michael Bell in the English version.
Silvia (called Debbie in the original version): She is the female member of the team, a beautiful girl of kind and cheerful character. He was very fond of Buggy Buggy, so much so that after he won a race or performed some heroic feat, he rewarded him with a kiss. Being the beautiful girl of the group, Silvia's character also shares similar characteristics with Daphne (from the Scooby-Doo series), only that Silvia is a little more affectionate and intelligent. She was played by actress Arlene Golonka in the English version.

Production
The Buggy Buggy Superveloz was one of the many programs with which the production company Hanna-Barbera tried to repeat the success of its series Scooby-Doo where are you?. The idea of a living car arose and was inspired by Disney fictional character Herbie, The Love Bug (1968), who was a Volkswagen Beetle.1

The series had a very successful premiere in 1973, which caused it to be broadcast by three major networks. It first aired on CBS until 1975, then was broadcast on ABC from January 1976, and later on NBC, from November 27, 1976 to September 3, 1977. It was then taken by the USA Network, which broadcast it throughout the 1980s
