Dukes of Hazzard (1979)

The Dukes of Hazzard (also known as The Dukes of Luck in Latin America) is a television series from the United States originally broadcast between 1979 and 1985 on CBS. Created by Gy Waldron, it tells the story of Bo and Luke Duke, 2 cousins fighting injustice in Hazzard County, "led" by corrupt commissioner Jefferson Davis "Boss" Hogg and his right-hand man, Commissioner Rosco P. Coltrane.

Characters

Bo Duke
One of the Duke cousins, he has blond hair and an adventurous and brave character. A former test driver, General Lee drives his car most of the time. He is characterized by his cry: yeehaa !. Character played by John Schneider.

Luke Duke
The other cousin, has black hair and a rational character. A former marine and former boxer, he is the architect of the group's plans when he is in trouble, he will help his cousin. Character played by Tom Wopat.

Bo and Luke were liquor smugglers (following family tradition) until they were arrested and sent to prison. Thanks to an agreement signed by their uncle Jesse they are on parole and therefore cannot carry firearms. But they carry explosive-laden bows and arrows when necessary. His CB (Citizen Radio Amateurs Band) code is Lost Sheep.

Jefferson Davis Hogg (Boss Hogg)
Also known as JD Hogg, his nickname is Boss. He is the corrupt county commissioner, as well as being the wealthy man of the town. He owns, among other properties, the Nest of the Wild Boar and plays dirty to get money. Former liquor smuggler, he is characterized by wearing white and being fat. Character played by Sorrel Booke.

Enos Strate
The county sheriff is an honest policeman with a good heart and who does his duty. When Bo and Luke are ordered to arrest him, he almost always does it against his will. He is in love with Daisy. Played by Sonny Shroyer.

Davenport Cooter
The town mechanic, a great friend of the Duke family. He is complicit in the adventures of Bo and Luke and is a bit crazy. Played by Ben Jones, he calls himself "the crazy Cooter"

The following are some secondary and substitute characters:

Cletus Hogg
Cousin of Boss, was sheriff in some episodes while Enos was in California. It has the same qualities of Enos. Played by Rick Hurst.

Lulu Hogg
Boss's wife and Rosco's sister, she is a fat woman with a good heart. It's kind of bossy, especially with Boss. Played by Peggy Rea.

Coy Duke
Another of the Duke cousins, he has the same qualities as Bo and was also a test pilot. Played by Byron Cherry.

Vance Duke
Another of the Duke cousins, has the same qualities as Luke and was in the merchant marine. Played by Christopher Mayer.

Coy and Vance were in the series between 1982 and 1984, due to Wopat and Schneider leaving the series due to production problems. To justify this, Coy and Vance (who had lived on the farm before Bo and Luke were arrested) were said to be "in charge" of everything while Bo and Luke were trying their luck on the NASCAR auto circuit.

Commissioner Little
The neighboring Chikasaw County Commissioner is a ruthless policeman who viciously chases liquor smugglers. Character played by Pedro Colley.

Emma Tisdale
The town postal clerk is a slightly crazy old lady who is in love with Uncle Jesse. Despite being an old woman she acrobatically drove a large motorcycle. Character played by Nedra Volz.

In the English version, singer Waylon Jennings was "the baladeer", in other words, he was the narrator of the story
